Green Meetings in Upper Austria – Meeting with Responsibility

Environmentally conscious behaviour is becoming more and more of an important factor to public administration and the economy. This attitude can now be put to the test at business events.

Green Meetings – responsible behaviour of the convention business with regard to ecological, economic and societal aspects – is a growing field of action for the Upper Austrian Convention Bureau. We push offers in the field of “sustainable meetings“ and support or members in product development. In the field of mobility, there are more and more co-operations with the Austrian Railways and bus companies. The Upper Austrian Convention Bureau also assumes social responsibility, has designed its web presences without limits and supports charity facilities within the scope of its own events.
Regarding communications, too, Green Meetings are playing a greater role: The Upper Austrian Convention Bureau reports on its members’ activities in its press announcements and dedicates a focus on the field of health and green meetings.

Austrian Environmental Seal – NEW for Green Meetings


Since 1 July 2010, event organisers can subject their conferences, meetings or seminars to the strict environmental guidelines and therefore demonstrate their responsibility regarding the environment, employees and seminar participants with the Austrian Environmental Seal to the outside world.
Event organisers of congresses and trade fairs are placing more and more value on climate protection, regional value creation and social compatibility. The event therefore has a positive image amongst the population, guests and sponsors. Instead of causing piles of rubbish and traffic chaos, Green Meetings are characterised by:
  • increased energy efficiency,
  • rubbish prevention
  • guests’ environmentally friendly travel,
  • regional value creation and social responsibility.


This is how your event can receive the Austrian Environmental Seal:

Products and services with the Austrian Environmental Seal http://www.umweltzeichen.at fulfil comprehensive requirements regarding environmental and health compatibility as well as usability. It is not just an orientation help for the organisation of sustainable events, but also for accommodating event participants.

The Environmental Seal can be requested for the following events:
  • Congresses
  • Symposiums
  • Scientific or state conferences
  • National and international meetings
  • Surveys, forums and colloquiums
  • Company and business meetings
  • General assemblies, Board meetings
  • Conclaves, seminars, trainings and workshops

  • Congress and trade fair centres
  • Convention bureaus
  • Congress and seminar hotels*
  • Event, advertising and city marketing agencies **
  • Training facilities
